Orange County Paint Protection Film Installer Near You

If you're located in the greater Orange County area and looking for the best paint protection film installer near me, then look no further.  TJ's Clear Bra has been installing paint protection film products since 1978, making us the longest running PPF installer in the world. We offer a large variety of paint protection products with solutions for nearly all major car brands.

Most PPF products are a clear urethane-based film applied to your vehicle so that it follows the contours of your vehicle’s forward-facing surfaces, including your headlights, to protect the paint from road debris. We apply the clear bra protection film to any car, truck, motorcycle, boat, or RV to protect against rock chips, scratches, or abrasions. With proper care, the protective film remains nearly invisible, allowing the brilliance of your vehicle’s finish to shine through.

With pre-cut kits, installation times are typically 3-4 hours. At the custom level, installation times vary and depend on exactly what coverage is needed.

How the Paint Protection Film Installation Process Works

Here's a quick overview of my install process. Every PPF install comes with a satisfaction guarantee and paint protection film products ordered specifically for your vehicle.

  • Can I install paint protection film myself?
We don’t suggest it. Just as you wouldn’t tint your own windows, you shouldn’t install this film without months, or even years, of proper training. But if you do want to try it yourself, buy two kits, because we’ll need one to install after we replace the one you put on.
  • What if I can't find the right paint protection film kit for my car?
We subscribe to a number of different kit design providers, so in most cases, we will be able to find a pre-kit for your vehicle. In the rare case where we can’t, our vast experience will allow us to customize a kit for you.
  • How long does Paint Protection Film last?
Your clear bra’s longevity relies on a number of factors, most importantly, the quality of the film, how much sunlight it’s exposed to, and how well you take care of the product. For example, a car kept in a garage has a longer life-span than one exposed to the sun. Generally speaking, a manufacturer’s warranty on paint protection film varies from three to ten years. Your film should be inspected at the four or five year mark to determine if it needs to be replaced.
  • Will the Clear Bra or Paint Protection Film yellow over time?
The answer is yes and no. Although the films we use today have specialized top coats and UV inhibitors in them, it is natural for all urethane films to discolor somewhat. However, with the proper care and maintenance, any degradation in the clarity of the film should barely be visible to the human eye.
  • How long does it take to install a paint protection film kit?
With precut kits, installation times are typically 3-6 hours. At the custom level, installation times will vary depending on exactly what coverage is needed.
  • Do car manufacturers use the Clear Bra?
Yes, almost every auto maker (Porsche, MBZ, and Lotus for example) uses clear protective film somewhere on some of their models.
  • Is the installation of Clear Bras or PPF products permanent?
No, it is not permanent. It is difficult to remove, but it can be removed without harming the paint as long as it was properly install and not installed on fresh paint. Fresh paint needs to be totally cured before a clear bra is installed.
  • Are scratches to PPF products repairable?
With today’s new technology in self-healing film, light scratches can sometimes be removed. Deep scratches, nicks and gouges, cannot be repaired and must be replaced.
  • Can paint protection film be applied over graphics?
Yes it can, however if the film has to be removed, some damage may occur to the underlying graphics.
  • Can paint protection film be applied to a newly painted vehicle?
Yes, as long as the paint has completely cured, which usually that takes about 4 weeks.
  • Can paint protection film be installed on a car with touch up paint?
Yes, as long as the paint touch up has completely dried.
  • What finishes are available for paint protection film?
The film is available in both glossy and matte finishes.
  • How do I care for my new Clear Bra?
1 – Keep the film waxed and sealed. By nature, all paint protection film is porous to some degree, that’s why it’s so important to keep the film sealed. Dirt, dust, and other air-born impurities left on unprotected film will eventually cause the film to become dull (this is not covered under anyone’s warranty). The topcoats on newer films can withstand petroleum-based waxes and sealants better than older films. Quick detailers and ceramic coatings are excellent products for protecting the film… 2 – Use only MILD soap & water to clean the film. Most commercially available car-washing soaps are fine. Whenever possible, do not use any kind of petroleum-based products on the film. Clear protection films do not like petroleum-based products on them, because it causes them to yellow and become dull. Products like Simple Green, 409, bug & tar removers, and de-greasers have harsh unrefined petroleum distillates in them, which in the long run, will harm the film. All paint protection films are very susceptible to water spotting. Hard water deposits baked on by the sun cannot be removed, and are not covered under anyone’s warranty. 3 – Do not use any products that contain ABRASIVES or DYES on the film. ** A Note About Car Washes. If you frequent car washes, it is always recommended that you use brush-less or touch-less car washes. Make sure that they don’t spray any wheel cleaners or de-greasers on the film.
